Making an Archive of Ideas Findable
A substantial body of work deserves to be discoverable beyond the audience that already knows its creator. This roadmap connects a journalist’s archive to the people searching for its subjects and its guests.
The Challenge
Visitors arrive looking for three different things: the interviewer herself, a particular guest, or a discussion about technology, culture, politics or society. The site has to answer all three entry points.
- Whether priority pages are accessible and indexable
- Whether titles and descriptions explain what each conversation actually covers
- Whether video pages carry useful supporting text
- How related interviews, stories and speaker pages connect to one another
- Whether professional information is accurate and consistent across profiles
The Proposed Plan
Three routes in, one archive. Each search theme gets mapped to an existing page before any new content is recommended.
- Month one — foundation and mapping — canonical URLs, broken links, redirects, crawl controls and sitemap coverage; GA4 and Search Console validated. Keyword mapping split three ways: name-based searches, guest-based searches and topic-based searches
- Month two — conversations made legible — for an interview page, supporting content explaining who the guest is, what the discussion covers and which questions it explores, so a visitor can judge relevance before committing to a long video. Related links connecting a conversation to its series, speaker and subject
- Video optimisation — descriptive titles naming guest and subject, concise summaries, reviewed transcripts or substantial supporting text, chapters and timestamps, and links tying the video back to the site. Transcripts require editorial checks, particularly for names, quotations and sensitive subject matter
- Professional information and AI discovery — accurate biography, supported credentials, consistent official profile links, and structured data chosen to match what is visible on the page. A fixed query set monitored across AI platforms, reported separately from rankings and referral traffic
- Month three — review — pages with impressions but few clicks reviewed for relevance; conversations attracting renewed interest given better supporting material or links from related pages
How Progress Would Be Measured
Resolution of audited issues and priority-page indexing; impressions and clicks on branded queries; non-branded queries reaching conversation and editorial pages; available viewing metrics and tracked video interactions; agreed enquiry or outbound-link events; recorded mentions, citations and factual accuracy for a fixed query set. AI-search citation is monitored and reported — it is never promised.
The Results
The plan records completed audit and research activity alongside ongoing foundation work. Its monthly outcome statements are targets. No verified ranking, traffic, engagement or AI-citation result is claimed here.
